FAQ

  • How do you wash felted sweaters?

Handwashing is the safest for wool designs, and all wool sweaters! However, if needed, you can machine wash inside out in a garment bag on a gentle, cold setting. After any type of washing, iron the design on a steam setting, as hot as the base sweater will tolerate (but not higher than a wool setting) Ironing on a steam setting will further compress the fibers and keep the design looking nice. • What do I do if I wash my felted design on the wrong setting?

f you accidentally wash your sweater on a hot setting, you will be able to fix it most of the time by ironing on a wool, steam setting. This will flatten the design if it became puckered.

  • What is needle felting? What is wet felting?

Needle felting is the tangling and compressing of fibers with a barbed needle.

Wet felting is the tangling, compressing and matting of fibers with soap, water and agitation.

  • How do I commission something?

Contact me via my commission request form!

  • What is the timeline for commissions?

For smaller commissions, such as earrings, I can often do things the same week. For larger commissions, and depending on how many commissions I have on my list, it can take 2-4 months. On average, it takes about a month.

  • Where do you buy your wool and supplies?

  • Do you teach classes?

Yes I do! Currently I do in person classes in the WNY area, and I’m willing to travel for other classes. I’m exploring the option of online classes.

  • Do you have tutorials?

I have a few on my Patreon, and a few on my YouTube! I’m going to be putting a lot more on my Patreon this year.

  • Can I donate my wool clothing?

Yes! I accept donations of wool and cashmere etc. Just send me a contact request. Its ok if they have holes!

  • How long does it take you to make pieces? How much do materials cost?

It depends so much for each sculpture! Most things take at least 2 hours. Some things I don’t count the hours, but I’d say 5-7 hours is another common bench mark. There are some simple earrings I can make in 30min, and some huge sculptures I’ve worked on for 25+ hours. Wool tends to cost around $6 an ounce, which is super affordable for small sculptures but gets expensive fast the bigger the sculpture gets. It’s easier to stuff a sculpture with scrap wool or something for more cost-effective bigger work.

  • How many years have you been learning and developing your craft?

I’ve been felting since my mother got me a kit for Christmas when I was about 12! Or maybe I was 11. I honestly don’t remember. That was 2010 or 2011!
